Tops Louisville: March 2017 Decadent & Daring
The couple overhauled this neglected old house, board by board, wire by wire and pipe by pipe. Why? So they could have their vineyard. By Steve Kaufman
The realtor said, "I found this piece of property, but it's in really bad shape"...
...And so they plunged, into a year of clearing the grounds, stripping the skin off the house and rewiring and re-plumbing, pulling up the wood floor, and renovating the kitchen and all the bathrooms (a work that's still in progress)....
"We've probably added another hundred years to the life of this house." said the homeowner
One of 11 homes on The Tour of Remodeled Homes 2016. The Fern Creek house was a whole house remodel and garage addition. Pictures of the remodel can be seen below featured Courier Journal's Home of the Week: August 11, 2016
What does it mean to be featured in the Tour of Remodeled Homes?
According to the Building Industry Association of Greater Louisville (BIA): This year we celebrate the 31st Anniversary of the Tour of Remodeled Homes in Louisville. Each year the showcase has grown in popularity. The diversity in projects and the neighborhoods in which the homes reside this year, help to showcase the talents of our Registered Remodelers and the potential for existing homes across Louisville.
When you choose to remodel your home you want to ensure that you’re hiring a professional. In 1976 the Building Industry Association of Greater Louisville (BIA) founded the Remodeler’s Council in order to strengthen the awareness of professional remodelers and to raise the image of the profession as a whole.
As Registered Remodelers must meet stringent requirements that set them apart from the average remodeler, clients can take heart in knowing that when they hire a Registered Remodeler they are working with a professional who is striving to be better than the rest. It is important for you to make sure that the person you entrust the safety, image, and security of your home is someone you can trust.
